Community members are encouraged to celebrate Neighbour Day by participating in the City of Rockingham’s Neighbour Day Big Breakfast event.
The City will be hosting the event from 9am – 11am March 27 at the Harbour Playground in Secret Harbour, in an effort to create a more connected and safer community.
The Big Breakfast will also feature free children’s entertainment including an inflatable dart, giant family games and fun activities with the City of Rockingham Library staff.
Mayor Barry Sammels said the City had a strong focus on building positive neighbourhood connections.
“The Big Breakfast is a fantastic opportunity for community members to connect with each other and create a safer community,” he said.
“In addition to events like the Big Breakfast, the City also invests a significant amount of time and resources into its Neighbours Unite program. Neighbours Unite encourages people to connect and support one another, with residents registering to host a Neighbours Unite activity.
“An activity could include a barbecue, bake off or a high tea held at someone’s home, on the verge or at a local park. Reimbursements of up to $150 are available to those who register to host an activity to get to know your neighbours.
“The City wishes to remind people that community safety starts with you, so we encourage as many people as possible to participate in initiatives like the Neighbour Day Big Breakfast and Neighbours Unite.”

Registrations are required three weeks prior to an event.
