The City of Mandurah is inviting the community to come along to a National Tree Day planting event in Dawesville on July 27 from 9am-12pm.
More than 2500 native seedlings will be planted at Melros Reserve and in the sand dunes near Melros Beach car park, helping to increase Mandurah's urban canopy.
Planet Ark’s National Tree Day is a nationwide event to educate about the environment and encourage everyone to give back to the natural spaces they live in.
During the hands-on event, people can learn tips for successful planting with the City of Mandurah and the Bouvard Coastcare group, plus learn about the importance of native plants in combating erosion and protecting the region's coastal lifestyle.
There will be something for the whole family including kids' activities, stalls, native seedling giveaways from Men of the Trees, plus a free sausage sizzle from the Falcon Lions Club.
Native seedlings are being planted in partnership with the WALGA Urban Greening grant.
