A new mural has been unveiled at Austin Cove Baptist College.

The impressive artwork is now on display at the entrance of the College, thanks to a new community arts initiative, the REDEEM Art Project, which aims to help students turn personal struggles into collective stories of hope.

Following a series of workshops where the students helped design the artwork, local South West artist, Andrew Fraser, completed the mural last week during National Mental Health Month.

Project Facilitator Joe Frost said the mural brings together the individual stories of the students into a shared visual narrative of resilience, transformation, and hope.

“At a time when so many of our young people are feeling unseen or unheard, this project gave them space, not just to speak, but to be heard,” Joe Frost said

“We believe that creativity is more than expression; it’s healing. And this pilot showed us just how powerful that process can be.”

Austin Cove Baptist College Principal Josh Bond said he hoped the eye-catching mural would contribute to a vibrant community and act as a daily reminder to students and staff to monitor their own wellbeing, as well as check-in with family, friends and peers.

This initiative was made possible through the generous support of local businesses.
